There are some Toyota vehicles that the United States doesn’t sell. Ever hear of the Aurion sedan? How about the Aygo hatchback? No? Well, you’re not alone. These vehicles have been exclusively sold overseas for the better part of a decade, and while Toyota does a good job of catering to the wide range of vehicles that people in the U.S. like, you can’t help but be curious about the other models Toyota makes that we don’t always see here.
The Toyota Auris is another one of these vehicles that is exclusively sold in Japan and in Australia as their verisons of the “Corolla Hatchback”, but we have learned after months of photos being teased online, that it will be introduced stateside under Toyota’s Scion brand as the Scion iM.
Though Scion will dress up the Auris to look more Scion-y, it is still from the same platform as the Auris. The Scion iM concept shows a deeper, larger grille and a lowered body with sportier wheels to accompany the aggressive racing style that the Scion iM is going for.
Here is a photo of the Toyota Auris:
And here is the Scion iM concept:
The introduction of the Scion iM comes on the heels of annoucements that both the Scion iQ and the Scion xB will no longer be produced after 2014. While Scion will continue to produce the Scion xD hatchback, the new Scion iM will be replacing the xB.
The iM concept will be making its U.S. debut at the LA Auto Show, and we hope to get more information about the car's production design, interior, and technical specs there.
