The Scion FR-S was the first step of Toyota's plan to move away from their old reputation as "boring" and "plain" and become a more exciting brand. So far, their efforts have been a resounding success, as the FR-S has started to rake in multiple awards as we transition into 2013.
The FR-S is a joint production of both Toyota and Subaru and hit dealers back in June seeing great success, especially with the younger demographics. One of the biggest draws of the FR-S is its lightweight design, impressive performance, and awesome affordability. It comes standard with a 2.0L flat boxer engine that produces 200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. The FR-S costs $24,200 MSRP with the six-speed manual transmission or $25,300 MSRP with the six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and Dynamic Rev Management technology.
Here's some of the awards so far!
With the FR-S doing awesome and the beautiful Toyota Avalon just released, Toyota is certainly making good on their promise to make the brand more exciting and relevant to today's savvy design-concious drivers. There are more exciting things on the horizon for Toyota and Scion, so stay tuned!
