When you buy a new or used car here at Wellesley Toyota or at another Boston area Toyota dealer, there are a plethora of options for almost every aspect of the vehicle. From the color to the different radio options, it can be overwhelming to decide how you want your car to end up equipped.
Adding to the choices, you've also got a bunch of options to purchase after you finalize the sale. What more, its hard to find information online about these various accessories and warranties, and you usually learn about them when you're finalizing your deal, requiring an immediate decision right there! We're here to give you all the information you need on the various options and warranties that you can buy with your car.
Vehicle Service Agreement:
This will extend your basic 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, giving you further protection against malfunctions and future service your car will need. There are many plans and options available, and specific pricing will depend on your vehicle and plan you want. The prices can range from $1500-$3500 and the maximum plan is 8 total years or 125,000 total miles.
Toyota Auto Care Agreement
Purchasing this can extend your ToyotaCare maintenance plan, which is normally 2 years or 25,000 miles, to a maximum of 5 years or 75,000 miles. These agreements also depend on your vehicle and the plan you choose, and range from $500-$2100.
GAP insurance is meant to protect you on a loan or lease. In the event of a total loss of the vehicle (due to accident, the environment, etc.), your GAP insurance will cover the difference between the fair market value (determined by the insurance company), and the outstanding balance due on the loan or lease.
When you take out a loan or lease, the bank or financial institution TECHNICALLY owns your car, so if you total your car before your complete all your loan payments or while you're in a lease, you are liable to pay the bank back for what you owe them on the car, even what your insurance company won't cover! Purchasing GAP insurance protects you from this, covering the "gap" between your insurance payout and the money you owe.
GAP policies range from $495-$895 depending on your loan or lease, and can also be added to your lease or loan payments. So while you may balk at having to pay $15-$30 more on your monthly payment, GAP insurance can be a lifesaver if you're financing a new or used car. If you don't have it and you get in a serious accident, you are risking that you have to pay off an expensive loan on a useless car!
This product is a special type of sealant that is designed to protect your car's exterior and interior for the long haul. The exterior paint sealant protects your car from acid rain, tree sap, bird droppings, road salt, fading, chalking, and loss of gloss. In the interior, it protects against most food and drink spills and stains. If something happens to your car and you have polysteel coverage, you can get it cleaned or buffed professionally to repair the damaged surface so it looks like new. If that doesn't work, your polysteel coverage will cover repainting or replacing a damaged surface.
The coverage lasts for 6 years and is only $595. Definitely worth it if you want your car to look new for the entire time you have it!

Note that it doesn't cover normal wear and tear. The policy lasts for 5 years and costs $595. Lojack is a system that allows police officers or other law enforcement personnel to track down your stolen or missing vehicle. It consists of a passive transponder that is hidden in your car and can be activated when you report your car stolen. Police officers can then use a special device which tracks your specific Lojack transponder, allowing them to find your stolen car and the would-be thieves! Check out the video below for a demonstration our team went through showing just how quickly and effectively the system works!
