Scion, Toyota, and Lexus have ranked as the top 3 brands for reliability in the Consumer Reports annual automotive reliability survey. The study is based on 1.2 million subscriber surveys where consumers submit data to the Consumer Reports National Resource Center about serious problems they've had with their vehicle brands in the previous 12 months. As all three of these brands are operated under the Toyota brand, they are clearly doing something right and have recovered from the backlash of the recalls a few years ago.
Meanwhile, 4 other Japanese brands, Mazda, Subaru, Honda, and Acura round out the top 7 after Toyota's trio. Ford, after ranking in the top 10 just two years ago, has now tumbled to next to last in the rankings this year.
Out of the 27 brands in Toyota's full line-up, 16 earned the highest possible rating, and the outstanding Prius C subcompact earned the highest Consumer Reports rating overall. See below for a video of some of these rankings:
